Children are being rented to beg for blind people on the streets of Monrovia. That’s according to the Montserrado Super Intendent. Grace Kpan says although some of the kids may be related to the blind person, she fears in some cases the children may be rented. She says she is concerned about the number of young people being used as street beggars.
Just last month, President Sirleaf launched the ‘Each one Save One’ campaign, an initiative to get children off the streets. She is calling on people, who have the money, to pay for another child to go to school. But, as the campaign continues, children can still be seen on the streets of the capital begging for blind people.
