Joaquin Sendolo is press officer with Arcelor Mittal Liberia. He was previously a Senior Correspondent with New Narratives Liberia and a journalist with the Daily Observer newspaper where he is the Diplomatic correspondent and also works on the newspaper’s editorials. He has covered major international events including the Young African Leaders Initiative (now Mandela Washington Fellowship) in Washington, D.C., the US-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C., the African Development Bank 49th Annual Meetings in Kigali, and a Seminar on China-Africa Relations in Beijing, China.
Joaquin had been practicing journalism for 15 years and has been a New Narratives fellow since 2017. He took part in previous projects on extractives, forestry and environment reporting. His reporting prompted the government to begin repair work on a major road in northern Liberia and Joaquin also exposed widespread dissatisfaction among people in Nimba County with the resources projects underway there.
Joaquin’s reporting has also taken him to South Africa for the Global Investigative Journalism Conference and the African Tax Administration Forum media conference.
Joaquin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Management.
