Bettie Johnson Mbayo is a Senior Reporter for Front Page Africa. She has been a journalist for more than seven years. Bettie is a prolific journalist whose reporting focuses on gender, health, economics, corruption and politics. As a Senior Reporter, she has investigated and reported at least 6 major scandals involving major security institutions in Liberia. She has received death threats and threats of lawsuits on many occasions.
Bettie is a six-time winner of prestigious national reporting prizes awarded by the Press Union of Liberia. Her honors have included Women’s Rights, Gender and Judicial Security Reporter.
Bettie began her career as a trainee at Front Page Africa in 2011 and has gone on to become one of Liberia’s best known reporters.
Bettie is currently a student at the Cuttington Graduate school pursuing Master in Public Administration. She has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mass Communication in 2015 from the United Methodist University in Liberia, and several local and international certificates.
