Kingsley Elijah Hope

Kingsley Elijah Hope, popularly known as Hope King, is an award-winning Ghanaian
journalist with over a decade of experience in science, environmental, investigative, and
development reporting. Based in Kumasi, he serves as the Ashanti Regional Correspondent
for the Ghanaian Times and also contributes to the Weekly Spectator. He is the founding
Executive Director of the Science and Technology Communicators of Ghana (SaTCoG), a
network dedicated to strengthening science journalism in Ghana.
Hope holds a BSc in Information Technology from Ghana Communication Technology
University and professional qualifications in science journalism, journalism, public relations,
and French. In 2025, he received specialist science communication training at Imperial
College London with support from the British High Commission. His international
experience includes fellowships, training programmes, and media assignments in Japan,
Qatar, Finland, China, and Jordan.
A recipient of multiple journalism awards, including the Ghana Journalists Association’s Best
News Reporter and Best Crime and Court Reporter honours, Hope is widely recognised for
excellence in public-interest reporting. From 2018 to 2025, he served as Chairman of the
GJA’s Ashanti Region branch, where he championed press freedom, journalist welfare, and
professional ethics.
Fluent in English, French, and Hausa, he remains an active mentor, trainer, and advocate for
science journalism and media professionalism across Ghana and West Africa.
