Job Title: Consultant Trainer/Mentor/Editor
Job Location: remote
Reports to: Executive Director, New Narratives
New Narratives seeks highly experienced journalists to serve consultant mentors, editors and trainers for journalists in our projects.
Principal Responsibilities:
Consultants will oversee pitching or story ideas and reporting of journalism in audio, print and visual formats. They will mentor journalists to produce journalism that reaches the highest standards of verification, quality, independence and ethics.
Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
· 5+ years’ experience as an editor and/or journalist with a leading independent news media
· Educated to at least bachelor’s level or above, or significant experience of leadership within newsmedia
· Extensive lived experience and/or knowledge of current issues in at least one of the countries where we work
· Experience in developing and adapting program guidance tools and other resource materials
· Experience in training junior journalists and imparting high standards of fact-checking, data-gathering as well as legal issues and conflict sensitivity
· Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, partners and work collaboratively
· Excellent oral and writing skills
· Knowledge of best practice in journalism, media, media business and technology and media development.
· Knowledge of word essential. Knowledge of Adobe Audition and Excel an advantage.
